If yesterday was a drive I was dreading for no reason, then
today had about 130km of reasons to know it was going to be a bugger.
Today was also a good reminder to do periodic checks on your
vehicle. I did the normal belts and fluid levels, batteries, tyres, etc. but today I looked
under the vehicle as well to see if anything was shaken loose. Just as well I
did. One section of bash plate only had one bolt holding it together. How that
bolt stayed there with no nut on the other side is a mystery, but I'm damn
glad it did. 5 self tapping roofing screws later and the temporary fix is done
(and they're still there as this gets written at the end of the day)

There's no way round it. Corrugations just have to be
attacked. Pin back you ears, grit your teeth and hope nothing is loose on the
car. But we got through it unscathed this time and made good time to Drysdale
for a splash and dash of fuel before finishing with a scone, jam and cream at
Ellenbrae before we set up camp. In retrospect, we should have stayed at Drysdale
as coming from a dry Aboriginal community, we have no beer. Ellenbrae doesn't
sell it. Aargh! While homestead is very
manicured, the Camp here is the closest thing to bush camping we've done so
far. Pitches are separated by Trees and shrub. Showers are basic and heated (slowly) by
a donkey boiler (mine was cold), and the toilet is a long drop with a bucket of lime by the
seat.

Not much more for today. Tomorrow is a short drive to Home
Valley where there is apparently quite a lot of choice..?
